Kā‘anapali Beach Resort ʻOhana Supports Unity Bowl Gathering
Paradise High School recently traveled from California to West Maui for the Unity Bowl, a special football matchup with Lahainaluna High School.
The game gave students from both schools an opportunity to connect over their communities’ experiences following the 2018 Camp Fire in Paradise and the August 2023 wildfire in Lāhainā, while building new friendships through football. Nearly 1,900 people attended the game at Sue D. Cooley Stadium, where Lahainaluna defeated Paradise 27–21.

Following the game, Pilikahakai Foundation, with support from Kā‘anapali resort properties, hosted a lūʻau for the players, coaches, families and supporters from both schools. The evening gave everyone a chance to sit down together, share a local meal and talk story before Paradise returned home.
With only a few days to prepare, eight Kā‘anapali properties contributed food, beverages and supplies for the gathering:
Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa – Beverages
Maui Kā‘anapali Villas – Dessert
Royal Lahaina Resort & Bungalows – Green salad
The Westin Maui Resort & Spa, Kā‘anapali – Kālua pig
Marriott’s Maui Ocean Club – Lomi lomi salmon
Whalers Village – Paper goods
Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa – Poi
OUTRIGGER Kā‘anapali Beach Resort – Rice
Mahalo nui loa to the chefs, culinary teams, Food & Beverage departments, managers and staff who helped bring the gathering together on short notice and welcome the Paradise team and families with aloha and hoʻokipa.
The visit concluded with the two teams spending time together off the field, and plans are already underway for Paradise to host Lahainaluna for a future Unity Bowl.
